The Old Rectory and Us

Our backgrounds allow us to appreciate the stresses of modern day living and the need to relax and recharge at least once annually.  We believe The Old Rectory provides the perfect environment to do just that.  Our aim is for you to leave here having experienced your perfect holiday with a desire to return, as many do, for another visit. It is a wonderful feeling to welcome back visitors as friends year after year.

We love our rural location and there is a huge community spirit in the village. Our village shop and post office is community run and we have a wonderful village pub. We are staunch supporters of the 'Minack of the East' - Sterts Theatre on Bodmin Moor and have seen and been involved with some fabulous productions there - with more planned for summer 2009.

Chris and I chose to slow the pace of our lives in order to spend more time with our three children aged 13, 10 and 6, enjoy them growing up and capitalise on our other skills. We are fortunate to now have time to share our lives with a menagerie. Alfie, the daft Labrador/collie cross, Midnight the rabbit, Toffee and Gobolino, the guinea pigs, and Whizzy, Dizzy and Lizzie, the chickens, with Rocky, the cockerel.

 

I have been fortunate in having the opportunity to learn new skills since our arrival here, with perhaps the most important being the BTEC level 2 Sustainable Tourism Certificate. We continue to work to make The Old Rectory as carbon neutral as possible.

I love working in the gardens and am delighted to report that they were runner up in the commercial garden category of Caradon In Bloom 2006. We made a conscious decision not to enter the competition last year.
